Función y recepción de las artes plásticas en el siglo XV

Abstract

Durante la Edad Media, las pinturas y esculturas eran denominadas "ymagines" y en ellas primaba la función y el significado por encima del valor estético. Surgían con un fin y sentido precisos y su propia configuración dependía de ello. Por otro lado, el tipo de público para el que se destinaban, incidía en múltiples aspectos de su estructura y programa iconográfico. Presentamos una aproximación a los diferentes usos y significados del arte medieval y a fenómenos propios del período, como el de las copias.During Medieval Age, both painting and sculpture were named "ymagines" and both had an essential function and meaning which was more important than the aesthetical value. They arose with a concrete aim and their own configuration depended on this aim. On the other hand, the audience to whom they were devoted, had an impact on some aspects of their own structure as wells as their iconographic programme. We show an approach to different uses and meanings of medieval Art as well as to some facts which had place in this concrete historical period, as it is the case of reproductions.peerReviewe
