We have cal-culated for the first time the volatile delivery rates on(exo)planets.The recently discovered organics in the Martiansubsurface and atmosphere require the exogenous de-livery in geologically recent times. Possible sourcesare C-type asteroids (parent bodies of carbonaceouschondrites), comets, and interplanetary dust particles(IDPs). We find that the global carbon flux on Mars isdominated by IDPs while comets and asteroids deliver„ 4-19% and „ 17-71% of the IDP-borne flux, respec-tively. Around impact locations we find organics fromasteroids and comets to dominate over IDP-borne or-ganics at distances up to 150 km from the crater centre.We find that exogenous delivery can also explain thedark and bright deposits that were found in the perma-nently shadowed polar regions of Mercury, which areassociated with water ice and organic volatiles. Wefind that exogenous water sources can easily deliverthe amount of water required by the available radar andMESSENGER data. The water delivery is dominatedby IDPs followed by asteroids and comets deliver theleast.Recent observations show that the Main Asteroidbelt and the Kuiper belt are not unique to our sys-tem. The fact that asteroid belts do exist in other plan-etary systems tells us that the same delivery mecha-nisms, such as enrichment of the planetary surfacesby asteroids and comets, are happening around otherstars. In this way water and organics can be deliveredto exoplanets. We study exoplanetary system HR 8799which is known to host four giant planets and two beltsresembling the Main Asteroid belt and the Kuiper belt.We have investigated the processes of volatile deliv-ery from the belts to the planets which might occurin HR 8799. The inner belt delivers to the planets10´6 MC of volatile material per Myr and the outerbelt 3 ˆ 10´5 MC of volatiles per Myr. All four plan-ets experience impacts from the inner and outer belts.However, the innermost planet HR 8799 e is affectedthe most by the objects from the inner belt, while theoutermost planet HR 8799 d experiences the most im-pacts from the outer belt.The described research was done as a part of myPhD project.EPSC AbstractsVol. 13, EPSC-DPS2019-1683-2, 2019EPSC-DPS Joint Meeting 2019c© Author(s) 2019.
