Letter from Helen [Muir] to [Louie Strentzel Muir], [ca. 1903 May].

Abstract

Typedof the hotel but three Berkeley Professors, Profs. Ritler, Richardson and Basore, Wanda\u27s Latin Prof. you know. The poor man had blisters and was awfully sunburned, so I gave him a lot of cotton and talcome powder, and he was extremely grateful. We had all three of the Professors up around our camp fire after supper and had a beautiful visit with them. They left here this morning, on foot, for Yosemite. I also met a Mr. Phelps here last night, who had just come from Yosemite. He said that the President and Papa came down into the Valley the day they left, so the people had one glimpse of them. Mr. Phelps said that he shook hands with them both. This is the day papa starts east. Have you heard09185 [from?] him yet?I am so happy here. The grossbeaks are singing in the Sugar Pines and everything is so blissfully happy. Tomorrow we start for Hech Hechy. I will write several times while I am there, but I will not have a chance to send letters for about two weeks, so dont think we have forgotten to write.I must stop now so good bye till next time.LovinglyHelen
