An unpublished funerary inscription with bichrome painted relief lettering from Hellenistic Syracuse (I.Sicily 3387)

Abstract

This article presents an unpublished Hellenistic Greek funerary inscription from the museum of Siracusa, Sicily. The epitaph is carved in relief letters, painted in alternate blue and red letters. Both techniques are highly unusual in the ancient world, and the parallels and implications are explored
