What exactly is a paper-engineer - and how do they do 
what they do? Keith Allen lets us into his creative process 
and the secrets of working in imaginative ways with paper, 
turning this prosaic item of our everyday world into an 
art medium like no other. He’ll share his insights on the 
wonders and challenges of bringing pop-up books to life.
Keith Allen is a Senior Designer, Illustrator and Paper-
Engineer at American Greetings where he creates greeting 
cards and social expression products. After work Keith 
manages his own independent publishing company 
specializing in pop-up books. His latest book, “What a 
Mess! A Pop-Up Misadventure” was successfully funded 
on KickStarter and was recently published in June 2017.
