Phenolic and triterpenic cornpounds from Phyllanthus sellowianus

Abstract

Using the stem bark of the aerial parts of this plant phyllanthol (13-27-cicloursan-3-β-0l) was isolated from the hexane extract. Chlorogenic and caffeic acids and 4',4''''di-O-methyl cupressuflavorie were isolated from the acetonic extract. From the methanolic extract 7-hydroxyflavanorie was isolated. Two coumarins, isofraxidin (7-hydroxy-6,8-di-methoxy coumarin) and scopoletin (7-hydroxy-6- methoxy cournarin) were isolated from the dichloromethane extract. From the aqueous extract, levulose, sucrose, glucose, and galactose were isolated. These compounds were identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and some of thern by chromatographic comparison with authentic samples.Colegio de Farmacéuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aire
