Coupled analysis of double porosity swelling clays

Abstract

The understanding of the coupled behaviour of highly active swelling clays is better achieved considering two structural levels and their interactions in the context of a double-porosity model. Hydraulic equilibrium between the two porosity levels is not assumed. Applications to hydration swelling tests of bentonite powderpellets mixtures and to the chemomechanical behaviour of bentonites are presented
