Crude Preheat Improvement

Abstract

Final Year Projects (FYP) is one of a compulsory requirement each of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) students need to fulfil. This course consist two credit hours. Final Year Project were separated in two stages, that is FYP I and FYP II. For my FYP, I have been given a title of Crude Preheat Improvement under supervision Dr. Suhaimi Mahadzir. This project is consumed to optimize energy recovery and cost effectiveness. Here the furnace duty is increasing as long as the usage of fuel gasses. This due to several causes such as the heat exchangers of the crude preheats is insufficiently to generate to the set point temperature before entering the furnace. The problems that had been assumed are fouling, network arrangement and heat exchanger efficiency. The scope of this project is to gather all information for analyzing the current condition to find the root causes and develop options to solve the problems. The main step of this project is collaborating with engineers in the PETRONAS Penapisan Terengganu (PPTSB)
