Se analiza la relación entre la segregación ocupacional por género y el diferencial de ingresos en el empleo en turismo en Argentina. Para ello, se utiliza la metodología propuesta por Macpherson y Hirsch (1995). Los resultados muestran que la segregación ocupacional actúa aumentando el diferencial de ingresos por género en turismo, aunque el efecto es menor que el evidenciado en el sector no turismo. Si bien la segregación ocupacional es importante para entender el mantenimiento del diferencial de ingresos en contra de las mujeres en el sector turístico, una parte sustancial del mismo es atribuible al género de los individuos.The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between occupational segregation by gender and the income gap in employment in tourism in Argentina. The methodology proposed by Macpherson and Hirsch (1995) is used. The results show that occupational segregation increases the income differential by gender in tourism, although the effect is less that in non-tourism sector. While occupational segregation is important to understand the maintenance of the earnings differential against women in the tourism sector, a substantial part of it is attributable to the gender of individuals.Facultad de Ciencias Económica
