THE EFFECT OF USING FIX-UP STRATEGY ON STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION OFRECOUNT TEXT AT THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF STATE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 5 KAMPAR KIRI HILIR

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the effect of using fix-up strategy on students’ reading comprehension of recount text. The design of this research was a pre experimental design. The population and sample were the eighth grade of State Senior High School 5 Kampar KiriHilir. The number of sample was selected by using cluster random sampling technique. To get the data, the researcher gave pre-test and post-test then, analyzed the data by using paired sample T-test. After analyzing the data, the result of T-test was -10.518. Then, compared tobtain with ttable from df=21 that shows that significance level of 5% was 2.08 and at level of 1%, was 2.83. It can be said that 2.082.83. It means that tobtain>ttable, Ha is accepted.In other words, there is a significant difference of the students’ reading comprehension of recount text beforeand after taught by using fix-up strategyat the eighth grade of State Senior High School 5 Kampar KiriHilir. Meanwhile, there is significant effect of the students’ reading comprehension of recount text before and after taught by using fixup strategy of the eighth grade of State Junior High School 5 Kampar KiriHilir.
