In this study, the researcher wants to find out the correlation between
watching English movie and students’ listening comprehension at the tenth grade
of senior high school Tri Bhakti Pekanbaru. The specific objective of this research
was to find out whether there is a significant correlation between watching
English movie and students’ listening comprehension or not. This was a
correlational research design, questionnaire was used to determine students’
watching English movie and the multiple choice test was used to determine
students’ listening comprehension. This study was conducted at SHS Tri Bhakti
Pekanbaru. The population and the sample were 70 students and researcher used
total sampling technique.
The researcher used Pearson Product Moment correlatition coefficient, the
result of the analysis was calculated by SPSS 20.0 program. From the data
analysis with the Pearson Product-Moment, the result obtained was r(68) = 0.552,
p<0.01 . It can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Hα is accepted. Based on the
research findings, it could be concluded that there is a significant correlation
between watching English movie and students’ listening comprehension at the
tenth grade of senior high school Tri Bhakti Pekanbaru
