THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ AFFECTIVE FILTER AND THEIR ACHIEVEMENET IN ENGLISH OF THE EIGHT GRADES AT ISLAMIC BOARDING JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL BABUSSALAM PEKANBARU

Abstract

The research investigated on the correlation between students’ affective filter and their achievement in English of the eight grades at islamic boarding high school babussalam pekanbaru. There are two variables; independent variable is affective filter (X) and while dependent variable is a students’ achievement in English (Y). In order to students, which consists of 6 classes. In choosing the sample the researcher take 50% of the population in each class, sothe number of the sample is 66 students. There are two techniques are usedto collect data; the first is questionaire, is used to find out the affective filter of the students, and second one is documentation, is used to find out the students’ achievement in English. The analysis of study by using SPSS 17.0, which analyzed by using pearson product moment, the result is r(40) = 0.632, p<0.01. from the result, it can be conclude Howas rejected and H a was accepted. So, the researcher conclude that there are significant correlation between students’ affective filter and their achievement in English of the eight grades at islamic boarding high school babussalam pekanbaru.
