6 International Journal of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh Studies Volume 2, Special Issue, 1440/2018   Editorial .نيعمجأ هباحصأو هلآ ىلعو الله لوسر ىلع ملاسلاو ةلاصلاو ،نيلماعلا بر لله دمحلا  It is our great pleasure to present to you the First Special Issue of International Journal of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh Studies (IJFUS). The pivotal objective of this special edition is to bolster the annotated purpose of the journal for providing a forum to Shari`ah scholars and researchers to engage on topical issues of international contemporary interest anchored on principled positions of Classical Islamic jurisprudence and its legal theory. Accordingly, this special issue is devoted to researches on Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh issues which concern not only general populace and Shari`ah institutions but is also of relevance to Muslim athletes in the sports industry. It is this in this context that this issue brings to you five high quality manuscripts connected to the common theme: “Relevatization of Islamic Juridico-Legal Principles to Contemporary Contexts.” Specifically, the papers competently contain a juridico- legal analysis of the following issues: 1- Contextualization of Islamic legal theory and legal maxims into the Islamic rules of dispensation (rukhas) and necessity (darurah) in the case of flood victims in the domain of ibadat (acts of worship); 2- Harmonization of existing conventional Anti-doping legal statutes and ethical codes with juridico-legal principles of Islamic law and the purposes of the Shari`ah; 3- Methodological disposal of juristic tussle over the application of Qisas on an offending parent by preponderating the proponents` view to uphold the spirit of the law;   4- Islamicization of paramour marriage custom among some people in the Republic of Kenya; and 5- Explication of the parameters for upholding the Qur`anic measure of Hajr to reform a recalcitrant wife as opposed to malicious acts of wife desertion. All in all, every of the above papers engages on juridical and legal discourses of the subject matter and offers insightful suggestions to practically bridge the gap between theoretical Islamic jurisprudence and contemporary societal needs and expectations. To conclude, it is to acknowledge that the publication of this issue would not have been possible without the support of Editorial Board members and reviewers. We would like to thank them all. Our special thanks also go to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amanullah, the Chief-Editor of the Journal. It is our hope that the papers in this issue will prove intellectually stimulating and lead to further researches in the areas discussed.
