This study reviews the findings ofa survey carried out in Malaysia to analyze the pattern of psychologicaltest use. The results show that while a considerable number ofpsychologistsare interested in this area, the field has not developed fully. The work inthis area has largely remained limited to translations ofEnglish tests intoMalay or Chinese; while original test development, and test adaptationhave remained very restricted. Many tests are translated and used in asingle study only. Lnck oftest-focused research, non-availability of trainingin specialized tests, poor documentation and absence ofinfrastructure arethe major factors retarding the professional development oftests. Tests arewidely used in the public sector but infonnation regarding them is notavailable, for understandable reasons. I11e article makes some suggestionson how to improve coordination and communication, which may solvesome of these problems..,.c 265 .,.c
