Descriptive research studies on the use of different learning media in the form of fresh media and picture media, was carried out to analyze the enhancement of student's tree thinking on the concept of Living Things Classification, specifically the Invertebrate classification on the Protostome group. The research was involved a number of SMA-Y Kabupaten Bandung Barat (KBB) (n = 29) and a number of SMA-X Kota Bandung (n = 17). Research was conducted on April until July 2019. The instruments used on the study included: instruments for analyzing potential problems, three tier multiple choice tests, performance assessment tests, questionnaires of teacher and student responses to learning, and observation sheets for the implementation of learning. The research consists of two stages, namely phase 1 and phase 2 research. Research phase 2 was conducted to improve the limitations and minimize problems that occur in research phase 1. Research procedures include: analysis of potential problems, literature study, design and validation of instruments, and implementation and research reporting. The results showed the implementation stages of the RPP was good criteria (50% on phase 1 research, and 60% on phase 2 research). Improvement of student's tree thinking was still in low criteria (g 0.3), including: analyze phylogenetic relationships (1), applying the clade concept (2), identifying the number of evolutionary changes (3), and sorting character evolution species (4). Indicators analyze MRCA (5), sister group (6), tree topology (7), and constructing phylogenetic tree (8), repeated training was needed so that students better understand them. Meanwhile, teachers and students responded positively to learning activities in both phase 1 and phase 2 research
