The article presents the problem of cognition in the context of philosophic values. Our research is guided here primarily on the theory of the category in terms of Emil Lask’s perspective. It opposes the formalism of Heinrich Rickert and believes that true cognition is the relation of form and matter. According to Lask we do not have the cognitive abilities to recognize value in an absolute way.Artykuł przedstawia problem poznania w kontekście filozofii wartości. Nasze badania kierują się tutaj przede wszystkim na teorię kategorii w ujęciu Emila Laska.
