OPTIMISASI DAN PENGENDALIAN DI DAERAH PENDINGINAN LAMINAR PABRIK BAJA LEMBARAN PANAS (Optimisation and Controlling in The Laminar Cooling Area in The Hot Strip Mill)

Abstract

ABSTRACT In the rolling process of steel slab in the FISM (Hot Strip Mill) there are several criteria to be satisfied, among other thing the rolling .temperature between 550--650°C. This requires controlling operation in laminar cooling area. The determination temperature distribution of steel slab in cooling area was done using a numerical method, to determine the best combination of process variables (rate of movement of steel slab and flow rate of water cooling) to arrive at some optimal condition. For steel slab\u27s dimension of 60 m x 1.2 m x 0.02 m, 0.19 -0.20 m/s for rate of movement of steel slab, and 230 â 260 m3/h for flow rate of water cooling were the optimal set up. Water cooling applied to both surfaces was better than water cooling only to one surface. Controlling two process variables used to fuzzy logic controller (FLC) until the temperature of steel slab was ± 600° C. Keywords : optimisation, controlling, laminar cooling, hot strip mil
