Cemaran residu benomil pada apel manalagi = Residue of Benomyl on and in Manalagi Apple

Abstract

Benomyl is one of fungicides commonly used by apple growers. The objective of this study was to improve the currently recommended standard procedures for detecting the presence of benomyl in apple. The research was conducted from March - July 2002. Apple samples were collected from six fields owned by different farmers, three traders in Batu, and three retailers in Malang, Yogyakarta and Purwokerto. Instead of using a bioassay to detect the presence of benomyl as stated in the standard procedures, the extracts were injected into HPLC to detect the quantity of the residue benomyl. Ethanol benzene was used as eluent with a wave length of 286 run. The developed procedures were able to detect the presence of benomyl residue in and on apples with a recovery of 81,47%. Residue extracts from samples that collected from traders and retailers were not detected, whereas the amount of residues from some samples collected from field varied from 0,648 to 5,976 mg/kg.
