Complexes of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with o-aminobenzoic acid

Abstract

689-692Complexes of o-aminobenzoic acid with Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) have been prepared and characterised by X-ray diffraction patterns, infrared, Mossbauer and photoacoustic spectra. All the complexes -are polymeric and isomorphous with Zn(II) analogue. An analysis of temperature dependence of quadrupole splitting and optical spectral data give the values of ~ 10,840 cm -1, ~ 2930 cm-1, ~ 450 cm-1, ~ 180 cm-1 for 10 Dq, Eg level splitting, tetragonal field and rhombic fields respective y for Fe(OAB)2 system. Mossbauer studies of Fe(OAB)2 indicate that this compound is stable upto 600 K. Ligand field parameters for Ni(II) and Co(II) have been deduced from photo-acoustic spectra
