Antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of different solvent extracts of the rhizomes of Curcuma leucorrhiza Roxb.
375-379The present investigation was conducted to
examine the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of different solvent
extracts of the rhizome of Curcuma
leucorrhiza Roxb. against four human pathogenic bacterial strains and four
plant pathogenic fungal strains. The chloroform extract showed the highest
scavenging property while the petroleum ether extract showed the highest
antibacterial and antifungal activities. For all extracts, the minimum
bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) were higher than the minimum inhibitory
concentrations (MICs)
