591-595The densities and sound speeds of mixtures of
acetophenone, propiophenone, paramethyl acetophenone and parachloro
acetophenone with acrylonitrile, over the entire range of composition, have
been measured at a temperature of 308.15 K. The deviations in speed u,
isentropic compressibility kS, intermolecular free-length LF
and relative association RA have been computed using speed
and density values. The u values are positive whereas kS
and LF
values are negative for all the systems, which indicate the specific interactions
between unlike molecules. The results are discussed in the light of
intermolecular interactions occurring in the solutions. The computed results of
kS,
have been fitted to a Redlich-Kister type polynomial equation
