Dubliner David Barnwell is Senior Lecturer in Spanish at the National University of Ireland Maynooth. He has served on
the faculty of Columbia University New York, the University of Georgia and the University of South Carolina. Barnwell is
author of A History of Foreign Language Testing (1996) and editor and co-author of Foclóir Gaeilge-Spáinnise / An
Irish-Spanish Dictionary, (2009). Currently he is preparing the second volume of his dictionary, as well as writing a
biography of the Irish-American linguist Matthias O’Conway
