Orientador: Hildebrando HerrmannDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de GeocienciasResumo: Esta dissertação descreve a atividade de mineração irregular e os comprometimentos sócio-ambientais decorrentes da extração e comercialização do granito em uma área localizada entre as margens do Ribeirão Piai que divide os municípios de Itu e Cabreúva, SP. Para solucionar o conflito há duas hipóteses: a primeira, mais drástica, seria a proibição total da atividade clandestina; a segunda, mais consentânea e acolhida pelo estudo, seria compatibilizar os problemas através da interação harmônica entre os diversos atores legitimados. Essa integração pressupõe uma gestão do complexo mineral existente no local, para tanto é necessário que os diversos órgãos ligados à mineração, ao meio ambiente e também as prefeituras de Itu e Cabreúva se articulem juntamente com os extratores visando solucionar o problema. A proposta é que seja consolidado um Arranjo Produtivo Local (APL) de Base Mineral, capaz de estruturar o trabalho de tal maneira que seja garantido o desenvolvimento com bases sustentáveis para toda região, legalização do trabalho e das moradias, além da conseqüente e necessária melhora na qualidade de vida dos mineradoresAbstract: This dissertation describes the activity of irregular miming and the social-environmental commitments resulting from extraction and commercialization of granite in an area located between the shores of the Ribeirão Piraí which divides the cities of Itu and Cabreúva, SP. To solve the conflict there are two cases: the first, more drastic, should be the prohibition of c1andestine activity; the second, more pleasant and accepted by the study, would be to integrate the problems through the harmonica interaction among severallegitimated actors. This integration presupposes a management of the mineral complex existing in the local, to do so, it's necessary that several organizations related to mining, to the environment and also to the Cities Hall of Itu and Cabreúva work together with the miners to try to solve the problem.
