Representasi Stereotip Dan Prasangka Terhadap Perempuan Dalam Film “I, TONYA” (Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes)

Abstract

I, Tonya movie tells about the life journey of female athletes ice skating Tonya Harding. The purpose this research was to analyze how stereotypes and prejudices are based on women represented. The object of this study is Tonya Harding character on the movie I, Tonya. The analysis uses semiotics Roland Barthes that sees thorugh the meaning of denotation, connotation, myth with qualitative approach and the theory of Wood, when women are viewed from four categories, women as a child, women as a worker, women as a sexual object, and women as a iron maiden. The result of the research analysis were divided into four categories, first women as a child, shows that women can not choose what they want, attitude, behavior, and choices in ther parents control. Women as a housewives or wives show that woman should do the household chores and must obey their husband. Women as a sexual object shows that women only seen by the appearance of their body and their sexual function. Women as an iron maiden shows that women have a masculinity side, such as strong, aggresive and high competitiveness
