Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology gave birth to various innovations. One of the innovations currently emerging is innovation in financial services. This innovation combines a financial service system with the latest technology. As a bank that is controlled by the government, state-owned banks are flapping their wings by cooperating with this innovation as a form of their efforts to increase company profitability. This study aims to analyze the effect of financial technology on the profitability of state-owned banks. This research is a descriptive analysis research type with a quantitative approach to a comparative study of profitability ratios with samples taken from state-owned banks for the 2017-2019 period that have collaborated with fintech start-ups, namely Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Mandiri, Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), and Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). The Paired T-Test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test methods are used to get a comparison before and after collaborating with fintech start-ups. The results of this study indicate that for the most part there is no significant difference in the profitability ratios of ROA, ROE, NIM and BOPO after collaborating with fintech start-ups
