Norteada pelos princípios bakhtinianos, esta pesquisa fará um estudo da influência que a escrita virtual exerce sobre a escrita convencional em pré-adolescentes que cursam o ensino fundamental, mais precisamente, alunos do interior do Rio Grande do Sul. A chegada da internet trouxe consigo um aumento muito significativo de novos gêneros textuais, cada um deles com suas particularidades e léxico característico. Mesmo mais de vinte anos depois de sua explosão ainda se discute muito sobre as influências que estes gêneros textuais da escrita virtual operariam sobre a escrita convencional ou formal. Conversa digital está associada à comunicação instantânea, a economia de caracteres e a simbologias, portanto, desvios da norma culta padrão, segundo a escrita convencional. Para alguns profissionais da educação um dos geradores da problemática que vem sendo enfrentada no país quanto à questão dos graves e persistentes desvios ortográficos está ligada ao fato de que muitas crianças nesta idade passam boa parte de seu tempo livre em chats e redes sociais fazendo uso dos recursos verbais e extra-verbais que estes oferecem, dificultando o desenvolvimento das habilidades de escrita dos mesmos que acabam empregando esses recursos de forma generalizada em gêneros que requerem a escrita convencional.Guided by the principles of discourse analysis inspired in Bakhtin this research studies the influence of virtual writing on the conventional writing of pre-teens who attend elementary school, more precisely, students from Rio Grande do Sul. The arrival of the internet brought with it a significant increase of new genres, each with its peculiarities and distinctive lexicon. Even after twenty years that its explosion occurred, educators still argue a lot about the influences that these textual virtual writing genres would operate on formal writing. Digital conversation is associated with instant communication, economy of characters and symbols, and, therefore, deviations from the norm. For some education professionals one of the main issues for serious and persistent spelling deviations is the fact that many children this age spend much of their free time in chat rooms and social networks making use of the verbal and extra-verbal features that these sites offer, hindering the development of standard writing skills. They end up employing these features in genres that require conventional language
