This study aims to determine the appropriate model in the development of teaching
materials and the effectiveness of the development of earthquake material material
materials on extracurricular activities of School Disaster Preparedness. This type of
development model uses research development (Research and Development) which
refers to the development model of Thiagarajan. Methods of data collection using
questionnaire and pretest-posttest, who became respondents are members of
extracurricular School Disaster Preparedness in SMP Negeri 4 Klaten. Data
analysis technique using T test (t-test). The value of the mean pre-test was 69.3 and
increased in the post-test to 83.7. The result of T test (t-test) of pre-test and post-test
data shows significant value 0.000 <0,05 then H0 is processed and H1 accepted
which means developed instructional material declared effective for extracurricular
learning process of Disaster Preparedness School. Reinforced with final product
appraiser results by companion teacher has a value of 4.5 and belongs to the
category "GOOD"
