Small-ring compounds. XXXIX. A dimer of triphenylfluorocyclobutadiene

Abstract

The chemistry of the previously described substance, C44H20F2 from the reaction of l,l-difluoro-2,4-dichloro-3-phenyl-cyclobutene and phenyllithium is discussed in light of the recent X-ray diffraction study by Hughes and Fritchie which proves the substance to be a dimer of triphenylfluorocyclobutadiene
