El projecte europeu de recerca CLICO -Canvi Climàtic, Conflictes Hídrics i Seguretat Humana- per estudiar les dimensions socials del canvi climàtic s'ha posat en marxa amb unes jornades que han tingut lloc a Bellaterra. Investigadors de catorze institucions de recerca, liderats per l'Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals (ICTA) de la UAB, analitzaran durant els propers tres anys com els fenòmens hidroclimàtics -sequera, inundacions i augment del nivell del mar- intensifiquen les tensions socials i els conflictes en onze regions de la Mediterrània, del Magrib, de l'Orient Mitjà i del Sahel, i proposaran actuacions concretes per garantir la seguretat de la població i la pau a cada zona.El proyecto europeo de investigación CLICO -Cambio Climático, Conflictos Hídricos y Seguridad Humana- para estudiar las dimensiones sociales del cambio climático se ha puesto en marcha con unas jornadas celebradas en Bellaterra. Investigadores de catorce instituciones de investigación, liderados por el Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología Ambientales (ICTA) de la UAB analizarán durante los próximos tres años cómo los fenómenos hidroclimáticos -sequía, inundaciones y aumento del nivel del mar- intensifican las tensiones sociales y los conflictos en once regiones del Mediterráneo, Magreb, Oriente Medio y Sahel, y propondrán actuaciones concretas para garantizar la seguridad de la población y la paz en cada zonaThe European research project CLICO -Climate Change, Water Conflict and Human Security- devoted to the study of climate change and its social dimensions begins in February with conferences that take place from 25 to 27 February in Bellaterra. During the next three years, researchers from 14 institutes, under the direction of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) at UAB will be analysing the effects hydroclimatic phenomena -drought, flooding and rise of sea levels- have on the intensification of social tension and conflicts in eleven regions of the Mediterranean, Maghreb, Middle East and Sahel, and will propose specific actions to guarantee the peace and security of the population in each area
