The Sierpinski fractal bowtie patch: a multifracton-mode antenna

Abstract

Miniature behaviour of microstrip antennas with Sierpinski bowtie geometry is investigated and the existence of fracton modes is studied. A fracton mode is a mode found at a higher frequency than the one obtained for the fundamental mode. The antenna presents as many fracton-modes as fractal iterations. These fracton modes are interesting because they provide a broadside radiation pattern with higher directivity than that obtained from the fundamental mode.Peer Reviewe
