More continuity than change: Kent's Tudor almshouses

Abstract

As Nigel Goose and others have noted, early modern almshouses have received far less scholarly attention than medieval hospitals. This is beginning to be addressed and this study of Kent's Tudor almshouses shows the importance of regional studies to address this transitional period and the balance between continuity and change in the provision of institutional care for the poor, infirm and elderly in England
