Abstract
Only limited study has been conducted in the area of photoirradiation of trans-stilbene abdorbed on silica gel or alumina. These previous studies were characterized by the immediate removal of the resultant irradiation products from the solid matrix. Hecht, however has noted that if an irradiated system was left on alumina and monitored by reflectance spectroscopy the irradiation products did not produce a stable system, but a return of trans-stilbene was noted.
