These factors largely determine the type of agriculture within these areas. Varieties are recommended on the basis of length of growing season, average rainfall, disease frequency, and farming practices. Often an indi-vidual farm, due to its location or the management practiced by the opera-tor, may more closely resemble conditions of an area other than the one in which the farm is located. Recommendations listed here should be consid-ered in the light of these possibilities.
