Manganese peroxidase (MnP) is one of exoenzymes of lignin 
destroying mushrooms. It is well known that MnP is able to destroy the 
high persistent lignin. Former investigations of Scheibner and Haas 
showed, that it is possible to destroy persistent arsenoorganic compounds 
with this MnP enzymatic system [1].
Investigation were done to show the influence of different sorces of 
light on the activity of the isolated enzymatic MnP system. Two sources of 
light were included in experiments; Argon laser radiation (WL = 480 nm) 
and radiation by a Xenon lamp (WL = 250 - 700 nm; white light). The dose 
of energy, means the time of exposition, was varied. The activity was 
measured with gas chromatography after 0.5 h, 1 h, 2 h, 4 h and 8 h. As a 
tracer reaction the well known destruction of Trichlorotrivinylarsine by 
MnP was used. Experiments were compared to zero control, unradiated 
MnP (100%) and to each other during the time. All experiments were done 
under double controlling and additionaly under double gas 
chromatographic detection.
The experiments showed that after Argon laser radiation and radiation 
with white light of Xenon lamp the MnP activity was less than the activity 
of unradiatied MnP. During time of exposition the MnP activity was 
reduced.
The MnP system is in using for the destruction of organic pollutants 
in the environmental surrounding. The practical applicance of these 
experiments allows to utilize MnP more effectively and under certain 
conditions, one of such conditions is daylight.
