The main aim of this essay is the analysis of the sociopolitical context of the Great Depression as it is portrayed in John Steinbeck’s novel, The Grapes of Wrath (1939). This work is based on the tenant workers’ forced migration to California and presented from the Joad family’s perspective. Its social content is a faithful depiction of the historical circumstances of the strongest crisis in the United States’ history and, for this reason, it is worth studying it from a sociopolitical approach.<br /
