Abstract

Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate how doctors expresses themselves about the state of burnout in relation to gender. It was after reading about the subject on which the idea was created to investigate the physician's perspective on the area. This study is partial for to provide professional knowledge and understanding of the physician's view of the patient group, but also to help with further research in this area. In the implementation of the study, discourse analysis was used and applied with a discourse psychological orientation. This method is qualitative with a discourse psychological attack on the interview material. The study is based on four interviews with general practitioners from three different health centers throughout Sweden. The interview material is analyzed by using a knowledge-oriented and action-oriented analysis. The results of the study show that doctors have both experience and knowledge of the patient’s medical condition. According to the analysis the patient group can easily be identified when they seek medical care. Physician's views on the differences and similarities between men and women who suffer from burnout are similar to the general truth that society gives to manhood and womanhood
