Brandteknisk dimensionering av stålkonstruktioner vid termisk och mekanisk samberkan med betong.

Abstract

This report contains a theoretical study concerning composite construct design with steel and concrete and its mechanical and thermal interaction. The two primary advantages with this composition are the increase of the load-carrying capacity and its fire resistance. Composite construct elements are often used in the building process and there are several companies that offer a complete framework solution with an existing fire resistance. This circumstance could be a limitation in the engineers work with the structural design. The objectives are, accordingly, to increase the knowledge about methods and principles concerning fire resistance design, to increase the educational level considering the material properties and behavior under action of fire and also to apply the methodology on a existing cross-section with a FE-fire-simulation in the computer program ANSYS. The results show that the cross-section in this study is not capable to resist a standard fire in 60 minutes if you use the beam maximal in the ultimate limit state. You can also establish the fact that the mechanical interaction effect is insignificant. The fire resistance-demand on these kinds of cross-sections is always 60 minutes ore more. The beam in this study must be oversized or protected with some kind of insulation so the demand could be fulfilled
