Green areas are one of the key
elements of an urban region, however, their functioning is rarely taken under consideration
in territorial cohesion analyses. In this article a particular attention was paid to the objects of
ecological connectivity, which ensure the duration of natural ecosystems and strongly influ-ence biodiversity. Their structure and spatial extent in Lodz Metropolitan Area and its sur-rounding municipalities were examined, which led to unveiling functional conflicts resulting
from improper land development. All those issues were presented in the context of conserva-tion of ecological corridors in Lodz urban region, and the aspiration to create an integrated
and territorially continuous ecological system.Publikacja sfinansowana ze środków Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego, w ramach konkursu na granty badawcze własne (nr projektu N N306 262139)
