Abstract

Moral hazard with long term care facilities The article presents definition of the term “moral hazard” and shows its influence on the field of institutional long-term care. There is an obvious correlation between the scale of institutional care usage and the level of public subsidy. People use it more often when their individual cost is lover. In the other hand formal care givers are not interested in decreasing patient’s dependency level (and the scale of care needs), because it causes decreasing public funds given for such patient. The article also presents how changed the demand for institutional care in Poland under the change in financing system of care
