The academic studies is the period of intensive eff ort as well physical as intellectual. The young nervous system is permanently stressed and overloaded and it is in high need of diet rich in not only minerals and vitamins but also polyphenols and PUFAs. We analyzed 100 dietary questionnaires prepared by students of The Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University. The students’ diet is characterized by high nutritional deficiencies of vitamins B, especially folic acid, deficiencies of calcium, magnesium and iron. We found alarming defi cit of polyunsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E. Hardly three of the students completed their dietary allowances. Imbalanced diet may result in loss of health condition and intellectual efficiency, moreover it can be a reason of many diet-dependent diseases
