TEST OF RESULTS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF EIGHT VARIETIES OF POTATO PLANT (Solanum tuberosum L.) IN THE HIGH PLANTS OF PUJON KIDUL PUJON SUB-DISTRICT, MALANG EAST JAVA

Abstract

In Indonesia, potato cultivation is mostly cultivated in highland areas (1000 - 3000 masl) with potato production centers are: West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Sulawesi, North Sumatra, West Sumatra and Jambi. In 2017, potato production in Indonesia reached ± 1 164 738 tons per year with a harvest area of ​​75,611 hectares. Has decreased compared to data in 2016 which reached 1,231,304 with a harvest area of ​​66,450 hectares The decline in potato production can be triggered by poor quality seeds, land planted with potatoes, pest and disease attacks, poor storage, and inappropriate harvesting. This study aims to study the yield test and characterization of potato varieties that are most suitable for planting in the highlands of Pujon Kidul, Pujon District, Malang Regency The results obtained that the Amabile variety is a suitable variety to be planted in the area of ​​Pujon Kidul, Pujon District, Malang Regency with an average tuber weight per plant 983.33 grams, estimated yield of 1 hectare weighing 56.19 tons / hectare with a population of 57. 14
