Праславянское *žeratъkъ: слово‑айсберг / Praslovansko *žeratъkъ: beseda kot vrh ledene gore

Abstract

This article looks at the history and etymology of the Proto-Slavic word *žeratъkъ ‘live coal’. A detailed study, based on literary monuments and dialect material, is provided on whether *žeratъkъ’s descendants can be glossed as ‘ash’. The semantics of the derivatives of *žeratъkъ in Old Czech and a number of ghost words are analyzed.Članek je posvečen zgodovini in etimologiji praslovanske besede *žeratъkъ ‘žareče oglje’. Podrobno se razbira zakonitost glosiranja kontinuantov dane besede kot ‘pepel’ tako na podlagi pisnih spomenikov kakor tudi narečnega gradiva. Analizira se semantika kontinuantov *žeratъkъ v stari češčini in tudi vrsta leksikografskih fantomov
