Abstract
Članek kaže razlike med folkloristiko in literarno vedo v preučevanju ljudskega slovstva in se ustavlja predvsem ob najbolj kritičnih vprašanjih, kot so: estetski pogled na folkloro, neupoštevanje njegove funkcionalnosti in življenjskega konteksta, sinkretičnosti in specifične poetike. Čeprav se zdi, da sta folkloristika in literarna zgodovina še danes sestrski vedi, pa avtor ugotavlja, da sta se že zdavnaj ločili in danes obstajata kot samostojni znanstveni vedi z lastno teorijo in metodologijo.

The paper examines the difference between folkloristics and literary science and their relation toward oral (folk) literature. One of the most critical issues is that literary science emphasizes the aesthetic view of folklore, disregarding its function, life context, syncretism, and its distinct poetics. Even though it seems that folkloristics and literary history are still sisterly disciplines the author is of the opinion that they had separated long ago. They have become two independent scientific disciplines, each with its own theory and methodology
