Millennials in Latin America and the Caribbean : on violence, discrimination and stigmatization

Abstract

The presentation reviews analysis of education and labor decisions among young people aged 15-24 years old in nine Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) countries, identifying the role played by violence and structural violence in constraining education and employment opportunities. A secondary and related topic is how well youth are equipped for successfully entering new labor markets in terms of traditional (cognitive skills) and non-traditional factors (non-cognitive skills)
