Presencias valencianas en la traducción del Orlando enamorado de F. Garrido de Villena (1555)

Abstract

The present article analyzes the octaves that Garrido de Villena added to Boiardo's poem with the aim to insert in the Spanish version of the work a series of characters belonging to Valencian elites. It is an exercise in manipulation, adaptation, and anachronic contextualization, as much as it is a creative design that runs parallel to a translation effort while being integrated in it and intended to pose a societal model to his contemporary Spanish readers
