We analyze in this paper the reasons why has been introduced the concept of Antropoceno as a new geological period in which the great changes suffered by the Earth -and more precisely by the biosphere- are due to human action. On the other hand, we intend to show that this new period constitutes an opportunity to rethink human behavior to overcome the situation of planetary emergency and make possible a sustainable future
