En el curso de los últimos años, la noción de significación en música ha sido objeto de numerosos estudios e investigaciones. En este artículo trazamos una perspectiva histórica crítica de la evolución de las investigaciones en significación musical partiendo de la hermenéutica musical, y de su recepción en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, a la vez que situamos las nuevas propuestas interdisciplinarias de investigación más recientes que han redimensionado el estudio de la significación musical desde campos
tan diversos como la psicología, la lingüística o las ciencias cognitivas.During recent years, the notion of meaning in music has been the subject of a large number of studies and research. In this paper we draw a critical historical perspective of the evolution of research in the field of musical meaning starting with musical hermeneutics and its reception in the second half of the 19th Century. I so doing, we also discuss the new interdisciplinary proposals that have remodelled the study of musical signification from fields as diverse as psychology, linguistics or cognitive sciences
