This will include aspects o f dispensing, management, communication (both verbal and writing), physical assessment, disease state monitoring and legal issues.Objectives:Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to :1. Take a cogent medical history and to perform an appropriate physical assessment that will assist him/her in making decisions regarding optimizing drug therapy in patients;2. Demonstrate competence in performing, interpreting and recording physical examination to the level defined in lab for a given system or anatomic region;3. Define all terminology used in the presentation and recording of history and physical examination;4. Develop a care plan, communicate recommendations (both verbally and in writing) to physicians and document interventions by SOAP notes when given a case/scenario;5. Understand personnel, systems and other management issues as it relates to the profession of pharmacy;6. Appropriately counsel patients on their medications, management of ADRs, and adherence to their planned therapy.Expectations: It is the student’s responsibility and obligation to:1. Attend and participate in lectures and lab sessions. In cases o f sickness or other emergencies necessitating a student’s absence from a lab session, the student must make arrangements to reschedule. All reschedules must be approved by Bob Williams (243-4362) or Donna Beall (243-6710)2. Read assigned materials) b e fo re  attending class/lab and prepare written assignments to be handed in to lab instructor when due3. Acquire appropriate instruments and lab supplies and bring them to lab when needed4. Understand that confidentiality o f the patient (fellow student) m u st be preserved5.
