In search for territorial integration : proposal for the strengthening of the urban system in the province of Santiago del Estero, Argentina

Abstract

El presente estudio, propio de la Geografía Humana, aborda la estructura y complejidad del sistema urbano de la provincia de Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Constituye un análisis territorial escasamente desarrollado en esta provincia, con lo cual se revela potencialidades y limitaciones funcionales en el territorio. El objetivo de este estudio es proponer la reorganización del sistema urbano dominante para lograr mejor integración en el territorio mediante el desarrollo económico de nuevos núcleos urbanos estratégicos. En efecto, se procede con el tratamiento de información estadística disponible, la aplicación de técnicas cuantitativas y la generación de cartografías. Por lo tanto se busca lograr una fluida conectividad entre nuevas ciudades estratégicas y la difusión de servicios de calidad a poblaciones lejanas. Los resultados deseados, para un eventual plan de ordenamiento territorial, se basan en la creación de regiones modélicas Thiessen.This study of Human Geography, deals with the structure and complexity of the urban system of the province of Santiago del Estero, Argentina. It constitutes a scarcely developed territorial analysis in this province, which reveals potentialities and functional limitations in the territory. The aim of this study is to propose the reorganization of the dominant urban system in order to achieve better integration in the territory through the economic development of new strategic urban centres. In fact, we proceed with the processing of available statistical information, the application of quantitative techniques and the generation of cartographies. Therefore, the aim is to achieve fluid connectivity between new strategic cities and the dissemination of quality services to distant populations.
