Abstract

En la Argentina del siglo XIX, la enseñanza del castellano como idioma nacional y la del inglés como lengua extranjera estuvo relacionada con un proyecto civilizatorio de país. Diversas políticas lingüísticas se enmarcaron en políticas de estado que consideraron la enseñanza-aprendizaje de las lenguas como piezas fundamentales para el programa de modernización de la Nación. En este trabajo se investiga parte de esa historia en función de visibilizar cómo se empezó a enseñar la lengua materna y el inglés y el legado de aquellas sesenta y cinco maestras norteamericanas convocadas por Sarmiento y su rol en la feminización de la docencia argentina.In 19th century Argentina, the teaching of Spanish as a national language and of English as a foreign language was related to a civilizing project for the country. Different linguistic policies were included in state politics that considered the teaching-learning of languages as a fundamental element in the modernization of the Nation. In this work we investigate part of that history in order to visualize how the teaching of the mother tongue and of English and the legacy of the sixty-five North American teachers invited by Sarmiento and the feminizing role of teaching in Argentina.Fil: Moral, Gabriel del .
